Galatians 5:1 says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Jesus, through His death and resurrection, has provided a way for all those who put their hope and trust in Him, to live a victorious life. That's right...a growing, abundant life with the desire and power to know, love, worship, and obey God.
So are you experiencing this freedom and victory in your daily life? Or are you weighed down by spiritual and emotional garbage? Imagine what would happen if you threw garbage bags out on your porch day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year. Eventually, you would attract a lot of rats. You might set traps to kill the rats, however, if you don’t resolve the issue of the garbage itself, rats will continue to wreak havoc!
The same is true when you don't deal with inner hurts and wounds, personal sin, and generational iniquities. They create a spiritual feeding ground for the enemy of your soul to feed on the garbage you carry and keep you enslaved in bondage, brokenness, and bitterness.
1 Peter 5:8 says, "Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour."
Ephesians 6:10-12 says, "Final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places."
It's vitally important for every believer to understand the reality of this unseen, yet very real, spiritual battle. If you want to defeat these spiritual dark forces and walk in the freedom that's rightfully yours, you have to clean up the garbage so the "rats" have nothing to feed on, and therefore, no power over you.
Freedom comes through the process of repentance, which literally means to have "a change of mind."
You cannot believe a truth and a lie at the same time and still experience freedom in Christ. You must verbally renounce (turn away from) lies and confess/declare truth (turn toward). You must expose to the light those things hidden in the dark (confession).
Ephesians 5:11 says, "And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them."
Proverbs 28:13 says, “Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”
Acts 19:18 says, "And many who had believed came confessing and telling their deeds."
This assessment is going to dive into some areas of your life, past or present, that if left unchecked, undealt with, or unresolved, interfere with the life of freedom you have been promised as a child of God. There are 8 categories: Basic Information, Counterfeit Involvements, Deception, Bitterness, Rebellion, Pride, Bondage, and Generational Iniquities.
In upcoming counseling sessions, we'll go through the steps with a goal to lay down, let go, and learn to walk in freedom. This is going to require honesty and vulnerability. This can feel incredibly hard, and sometimes embarrassing, but I want to assure you that there is nothing you could share that would cause me to think less of you.
I care deeply and consider it an honor to come alongside of you, brave soul.
John 8:32 says, “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 8:36 says, "So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free."
